Choice Voices has the ability to record and edit at our own well equipped studios, located in the East Midlands of the UK.

We have two studio microphones to choose from, each giving subtly different sound qualities:

SE 2200A Professional large diaphragm condensor microphone.

Sennheiser Professional Dynamic Vocal 80 - 12Hz Evolution E815 S-J Cardoid mic

We also have a selection of high quality USB microphones.

Blue Yeti multifunction 16-bit 48kHz stereo mic with a choice of three patterns, cardioid, omnidirectional and bidirectional giving recording capabilities normally requiring multiple microphones.

Rode Dynamic Broadcast Quality 18-bit / 8 - 48kHz Dynamic mic.

Both studios are audio treated with acoustic panels and 75mm Pro-studio low frequency absorbing foam giving a warm and natural sound.

We use PreSonus V2 preamp and a Lexicon Alpha audio interface and have a number of recording and editing options; including Adobe Audition, Sound Forge Pro 10 and Audacity. We also use Izotope RX as a stand alone feature to ensure the very highest quality clean and finished audio.

Sound Forge Pro 10 is acclaimed for its power, stability and exceptional workflow. With high-resolution 24 bit/192kHz audio support, Sound Forge 10 software is a flexible and powerful tool for high quality audio recording, editing and mastering.

Adobe Audition is a professional audio editing environment designed for demanding audio and video professionals. Adobe Audition offers advanced audio-mixing, editing and effects-processing capabilities. Its flexible work flow, combined with ease of use and precise tools, give us the power to create rich, nuanced audio of the highest possible quality.

Audacity, with its clean interface, excellent features and support for up to 32-bit floating-point audio, is feature rich and flexible. Using Audacity we can record and edit 16-bit, 24-bit, and 32-bit (floating point) samples, and up to 96 KHz. sample rate.

iZotope RX2 is the most complete audio repair toolkit on the market and enables us to supress unwanted sounds such as microphone hum and to eliminate clicks and crackle.

All of our audio recording software supports uncompressed audio standards such as .wav, .aiff .raw .vox .au etc., and unless otherwise requested, we always record at Broadcast quality. In addition to converting to varying quality MP3 files, we are also able to convert to other formats including .wav CCITT U-Law; CCITT A-Law and Audio Codec. We are all experienced users of our operating systems and software and thus are able to deliver your project quickly and accurately to a very high standard. Your finished recording in MP3 format can be sent instantly via e-mail. Larger uncompressed audio files (.WAV or .AIFF files) can be accessed via drop-box, YouSendIt, or other cloud delivery systems by prior arrangement, or via the client's FTP if required.

As well as the different formats available, there are also some options regarding the 'read' of your project. We can send you a cleaned 'raw' read - so a read without any treatment other than normalisaton to -3db; so no EQ or compression, just a audio track that has no fluffs, pops, clicks, long pauses or noisy breaths - with plenty head room and some room tone, so that the track can be edited to match pictures and mixed with your music, SFX or actuality by your video editor. We can also produce fully edited, finished and mastered audio, that can be supplied with library / stock music and sound effects if required. We have a growing collection of Royalty Free and licensed library / stock music, background music, stings, intros and outros and special effects. NB we never use uncleared, unlicenced or commercial music tracks which are likely attract significant copyright and royalty fees.

Any recording done in a studio other than a Choice Voices home recording studio, unless provided by the client, will incur extra charges such as studio hire and a minimum call payment for a sound recordist / sound engineer.
